Highclere Society

Highclere Society was started 26 years ago and now has over 300 members. It aims to protect and improve the environment and to enhance the social life of everyone living within Highclere Parish.

Why do we need the Society?

:,

The Society provides a coordinated approach on behalf of the whole community towards all issues of a social and environmental nature, and supports the Parish Council and others, when necessary, on similar issues.

Achieving our aim:

  • keeping members informed of local issues through newsletters and our website www.highcleresociety.org.uk

  • providing new residents with Welcome Packs delivered to their doors

  • encouraging Parish Pride, arranging social events and donating to local charities selected by the membership

  • monitoring all planning applications, big or small, in the Parish and objecting if they are deemed inappropriate to the Village Plan, or if we need to protect our Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty status

We support the Parish Council's work producing a Neighbourhood Plan based on the wishes of Highclere's residents.  Setting out their aims on housing, sustainability and the environment for the next 15 years, it will influence planning decisions and supersede the current Village Plan.
